I'm little anxious, few of my colleagues were discussing about HANA and they said ABAP is on it's deathbed & SAP-HANA has nailed ABAP's coffin shut.
Can anyone guide me what all changes gonna come in ABAP programming, is it gonna end for good?! Should I switch to another module in SAP, If yes, which module??... I've been working on ABAP from past 9 months and I love it and I don't know a damn bit of JAVA etc, What should I do guide me

Hey,
ABAP still holds a good position in market. As you have just spent 9 months with ABAP, there are definetely lots of new things for you to explore in ABAP.
Other than this you can start learning functional areas like, SD, MM, PP, FICO, CRM etc. This will definetely give you business understanding and much more interest in ABAP.

I suggest that either your colleagues don't know what they're talking about, they're teasing you or you misunderstood what they were saying.
"Complete Twaddle" is a phrase that springs to mind.
ABAP was first pronounced dead 15 years ago when Java was being pushed. Now Web Dynpro Java is not being developed further, but Web Dynpro for ABAP continues. If ABAP is dead, why are SAP offering the ABAP Development Toolkit, specifically aimed at using ABAP with HANA? And why are they offering courses in HANA friendly ABAP-programming.

Hi Hari,
ABAP runs in NetWeaver and NetWeaver runs on many traditional databases. SAP HANA is new database that is added to the list of supported databases of the NetWeaver stack.
In the future ABAP will remain a very important language as most SAP solutions are written in ABAP, independent of the underlying database.
So no need to worry and continue with your work.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
ABAP is a basic technical module. SAP is written in ABAP. How can it be dead? Anyhow it cannot be completely overridden by some other module. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

Hi Hari,
It's as the other said, ABAP and HANA will coexist. In any case, you should go to openSAP and register for the ,it starts today.
Cheers,
