Canonical structures essentially means application independent structures - useful especially if multiple sending and receiving systems are involved .

    Hi Priya,

If you have the schema of the message, you can directly import the schema into PI.

If you plan to design it, you can create a data type. It is just an amalgamation of structures which are  re-usable across scenarios.

    Hope it helps

      Hi Ambrish/Vikas,

Thanks for your reply. I have some basic idea that it a global structure which can be reusable for other scenarios as well. Can you please let me know if there any guidelines or reference document which i can use to build those structure.

      Thanks,

You might want to see Stefan's reply  to understand about this model

http://scn.sap.com/message/13506878   I see Enterprise Integration Patterns for PI published by SAP Press books will give more guidelines on this topic..
