Item category feild cannot be changed is the error occured

This is part of configuration and the field is display only after the line item is created... if you want to change it .. then delete the line item and create a similar one again. (make sure you are able to replciate the same one again) and test the same in Dev before making changes in PRD.

Thanks Rakesh,

I would like to know whether their is a link between Item Caregory to MM ?

Hi Ranjith,

Probably i am not the right person to answer this. I am a technical person (ABAP) and since i am working on CS02 exits for quite some time and have seen the behaviour i was able to give a suggestion.

if you do an F1 on the field you will be able to get some useful information.

Item Category (Bill of Material)

Categorization of the items in a BOM according to set
criteria, such as whether they refer to an object (for example, material master
or document info record) or whether they are kept in stock.

Use

This categorization allows you to process data that is relevant to the
individual items in a BOM. The item category is used to control field selection,
default values for BOM maintenance, triggering of specific system activities,
and so on.

Did you consult your functional consultant ?

Clarification from functional side is also required in this case reason being you are not able to change it externally using CS02 .

Hi,

As your requirement is just to change the item category from L to N  i.e stock item to non stock item,  for this you can add the new item with item category N  and delete the old item with item category L.

Hi Ranjith,

I think you wont be able to change the Item category through FM or RFC.
