Hello Karthik thanks for your help,
i extrac the sum in the path: D:\usr\sap\DSB\SUM thats where the guie tell me, do you want me to extract the sum in the trans directory and run the upgrade there?
the oracle db is in the path:
E:\oracle\DSB
and the data files are in:
H:\oracle\DSB
Any idea?
Regards,
Alejandro.
Hello
The problem is still with the even after you have modified the registry entry.
That confirms that the system is still reading the old values.
Can you provide the NLS parameters set for this user please ?
Also can you tell me the version of the Oracle instant client you are using ?
Regards
RB
Hello RB thanks for your help,
the parameter for the \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE was se to SPANISH_VENEZUELA.WE8MSWIN1252 and the parameters NLS for the user was AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8.
so i change the \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 and set the user and system variables to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8.
i stop the upgade restart the server and continue the uprade but i still have the error.
we are using oracle 11g
any idea?
Regards,
Hello
Did you set the environment variable or did you unset it ?
If you see this link it suggests to unset it if the environment variable is NLS_LANG
http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_12705_resolution.htm
Secondly can you list all the environment variables set for the sidadm user ?
Also provide the Oracle Instant Client version (not the Oracle version)
Check this SAP Note for more details
Note 998004 - Update the Oracle Instant Client on Windows
You need to first check the dbclient.lst file present in the kernel directory. This file will list all the files that are part of the Oracle Instant Client which will be present in the Kernel directory.
You can find the version of these files by checking the Properties - Version

RB
Hi Palazon,
Please check below thread
http://scn.sap.com/thread/3354930
http://scn.sap.com/thread/3247934
Have you entered the DB user password correctly ?
please check ORA*.LOG
Please open a message to sap as well.
Best Regards,
Atul

Hi Alejandro,
Try this,
The NLS_LANG must be unset in the Windows registry (re-named is best). Look for the NLS_LANG subkey in the registry at \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE, and rename it.
before changing anything make sure you backed up the windows registry.

karthik

Hi Karthik/Alejandro
As per sap note Note 606359 - FAQ: Oracle National Language Support (NLS).
Step 23.
From where does the NLS_LANG value come in the Registry under Oracle (WINDOWS)?
As part of the Oracle installation or upgrade, NLS_LANG in the Registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Oracle -> Home
is set to a value that matches the settings (language, code page) of the WINDOWS server (for example, GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8MSWIN1252 or AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1). Since this value is overwritten in the environment by the required NLS_LANG entry, it is ineffective and therefore not critical. For a better overview, however, it should be adjusted to the correct NLS_LANG value as it appears in the environment.
According to the note it should match the environment settings.
So if it not set in the environment settings then it should be removed.
