BO4 - Installing service packs on clustered environments

Hi,

Planning to update a clustered environment from bo4 sp5 to bo4 sp6.

Understand best to leave cms and input/output frs running.

Take it just need to have these running on one of the nodes, e.g on node 2 just have cms + frs running and do the install on node 1 then node 2?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Philip,

If all your BI 4.x server are SP5 or higher, their is NEW undocumented feature that allows you to install SP6 at the same time on all your CMS boxes.  You no longer need to wait for the first server to finish.   Simply start the SP6 update on the first CMS and the same time start the update on 2nd CMS server.

The undocumented feature allows you to update ALL the CMS server at the same time and then update all the APP servers at the same time.  This new feature after SP5.

Ajay

Hi Philip,

This KBA can also help you to patch a clustered BI 4.0 environment.
