Former Member
0 Kudos

I am new to sap administrative environment,

We have installed SAP ECC 6.0 Ehp5 IDES in our windows server for Development purpose. And the system was up and running.

Two days back i have restarted the server and found the consul root for SAP<SID> turns yellow.

Status of the Process List -> disp+work.exe   -> Running but dialogue queue stand still. We cant able to connect the SAP ECC using SAPGUI.

Operating System - Windows server 2003 x64 (Enterprise Edition) v5.2

Hi Ram,

Please check the archive log using brtools, make sure there is enough space on directory where oraarch is located. If yes, delete some old archive log files and start the SAP system.

Hi Ramachandran,

To check the file system, you can see in the respective drive where the datafiles, arch files are stored, check the free space of that drive,

BRTOOLS - goto cmd prompt --> type brtools

you will see the options with number in front of each actions

to check the archive status -

1 = Instance management

6 - Show instance status

press c two times

2 - Show instance status

It will show the Archivelog mode (archmode) or Noarchmode

Note: brtools are part of kernel (if db is oracle) , path is /usr/sap/<SID>/exe/run

Hi ,

With all your ENV set now, what is the latest error in your R3trans -d R3trans -x logs?

Not sure about the windows environment but generally when you make EVN changes you need to log off as the same user and log on again it should work, then if stop and start sap if you can or at least the console and give us update R3trans -d R3trans -x information.

Also ensure your kernel directory files have correct permissions set.

Johan

When i tried to Run R3trans -d and -x . its taking long time still not get the result.

And also can you help how to check the correct permissions set for kernal directory files?

Hi,

sidadm should be able to access read/execute all files.

Second question are all the instances on the same physical server?

If not can you ping those server on their hostnames? If not can you ping them on the IP address?

Johan

Hello

Stop SAP and Oracle database.

Restart the server.

Login to the server as cstadm

Start the listener from services.msc

Start the database from the SQL prompt

Run R3trans -d as cstadm

If the return code is 0000 start SAP

Else provide the trans.log file

Suggest you to update the Oracle instant client software.

The one you have is Oracle Client Version: 10.2.0.1.0

Use the latest one for 10G

Few points you should consider:

Perform the above actions under the cstadm

Provide the complete trace files or upload them as the ones provided above by you are not complete.

If you are new to SAP

Cheers

Hello,

Please try

Stop the SAP service
Open a command prompt

Go to
usr\sap\<SID>\exe\run
call 'sapstartsrv.exe -t' from the command line

Confirm
thedialog window

Start the service again

if the issue persists make sure disp+work and sapstartsrv.exe are on same

patch level in the exe kernel directory.

John feely

Hi,

Was there any related changes recently to host names or IP addresses?

Wed May 22 10:42:07 2013

*** WARNING => DpNetCheck: NiAddrToHost(1.0.0.0) took 4 seconds

***LOG GZZ=> 2 possible network problems detected - check tracefile and adjust the DNS settings [dpxxtool2.c  6393]

Maybe also check the network card of the hosts in question i.e. do hardware check maybe something is wrong there?

Kind Regards,

Johan

Hi Ram,

What is the database, whether database is running fine. Could you check whether archive log is full, if full, delete the archive log files if space is the criteria - disable the archive log mode.

Zaki
