Hi Saumil,

The previous post does discuss support packs, but not for Portal systems. I'm assuming by your request that your Portal is NW 7.0 (no EhP)... is this correct? Check here for more info...

http://service.sap.com/instguides

- browse the menu on the left for 'SAP Netweaver', then 'SAP Netweaver 7.0 (2004s)'.

      - see image:

- there should be detailed guides available with  information on patching

In general, you'll need to create a maintenance transaction with Maintenance Optimizer in your Solution Manager system (steps vary depending on version of Solution Manager). MOPZ will draw information from your SLD and use it to calculate a Support Package Stack for you to apply to your Portal system. MOPZ will also approve all files for download and add them to your SAP download basket. In NW 7.0, you can use the Java Support Pack Manager (JSPM) tool to deploy this SP Stack.

Let us know if you get stuck along the way.

Hi Seventyros,

Let me preface by asking if you have much experience in WAS Java and Portal administration. I ask because patching is a pretty standard activity and I just want to tailor my reply to fit your experience. I noticed you included a link in your last reply to an external site where you've  also posted a similar question. On that site you mentioned that you've had a Portal installed for 2 years... did you do the installation or is this something you inherited?

MOPZ is a shorthand abbreviation for Maintenance Optimizer.

Depending on your version of Solution Manager, the steps may differ. If you're running Solution Manager 7.0, you can call transaction "solution_manager". From there, make sure you're in the 'Change Management' tab and 'Maintenance Optimizer' in the second-level navigation bar. Then click the button to create a new maintenance transaction (see below):

Then just follow the standard documentation for completing the transaction and downloading your files.

Once you've downloaded the Support Pack files, copy them out to /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in.

To launch JSPM, navigate to /usr/sap/<SID>/JC##/j2ee/JSPM and execute ./go orgo.bat (depending on Unix or Windows).

JSPM is pretty straight-forward and there are help documents detailing how to use it if you get stuck.
