Hi,

All of sudden when I start Identity Center, it gives me below error:

MMC has detected and error in a snap-in. It is recommended that you shut down and restart MMC.

I did it several times and still getting the same error. i also restarted Operating System but to no help!

I uninstalled and reinstalled IDC completely, but getting the same error. I dont know what happened and what caused this error to happen. Please see the attached for more details.

Can any body please help me resolve this issue? I am unable to access and develop anything in IDC.

Hi Faisal,

this error as a persistent one, tough luck I guess. If I guess right the task / job you opened when starting the IDC is corrupt in some way. Thus, you get the error every time when you open the IDC.

Save the files mentioned before doing any of these steps!

I'd try to save "somewhere else" first. If you still can navigate close the MMC at a different job / task / folder with saving there explicit before closing.

If this doesn't help, try removing the Identity Center configuration and re-adding it. This also works inside the EMSConfig.xml if it doesn't work inside the MMC.

Next try is uninstalling the Design time and removing the Identity Center.msc from C:\usr\sap\IdM\Identity Center. IIRC this file is preserved during deinstallation.

Manually manipulating the task / job configuration inside the database would be my last stand though.

If nothing helps the best way would be to open a ticket here:

Hi Dominik,

Thanks for your detailed reply.

Actually it started with the modification of a job's log file, while MMC is on. After that this problem started but not sure what is the relation.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Design/Runtime components but it did not help me. As I told above, I used another user (<SID>adm) and accessed IDC MMC and it opened successfully! Therefore, i suspect something is wrong with user profile (Administrator) but not sure what is that. Hope this may help other and if possible, share your ideas to manipulate it further.

Faisal

Hello Faisal,

if it's a problem with the (windows) profile of "Administrator", have you tried to rename the profile folder for that account and then login again on the server? It will create a new profile for the "Administrator" account and then you should be able to access the MMC again.

.

Renaming the folder means, you can still access information that was saved in their, should you need to transfer some files.

Regards,

Steffi.

?Dear Steffi,

Thanks for your kind reply. I have renamed the 'Administrator' profile and re-logged in using this id. However, still I am getting the same error. May you guide me further in this?

Faisal

Hmmm, not really. Did it create a new profile? Have you checked the timestamp?

Hi Faisal,

Welcome to the wide wonderful world of the IDM MMC Console. This happens quite frequently and should not be a major cause for concern. Frequently this happens when you perform a "Drag and Drop" operation. You can just close and restart MMC and all should be fine. However in rare cases, you will lose the job or pass in question. Usually you can search for it and find it again, but sometimes this doesn't work.

It's also a good idea to remember in IDM 7.x that two people working on the same Identity Store via MMC should not work on the same job at the same time. Locking errors can occur that will corrupt the job.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your reply. Just it happened all of a sudden and I tried restarting MMC/System. But this did not help me.

I used 'Administrator' user. But somewhere here I learnt that usually, this may also be related to user profile. So I logged in using <SID>adm and accessed MMC and it worked!

I believe that MMC has some corrupted information about 'Administrator' user. How to correct it I dont know.

Faisal
