Existing SAP SCM EM on TM as Add On

Hi Experts

We have a typical situation. Our client has EM 7.0 as a separate box on SCM componets. Now they are upgrading the system to EM 9.0 on SCM components only. They are also planning to go for SAP TM 9.0 and the idea is to put EM 9.0 as an add-on to TM 9.0 instaed of keeping it a separate box on SCM components.

Now what are the steps we need to follow as an Implementation Partner? How do we retain the configurations and data of EM when EM 9.0 is put on TM 9.0?

I hope I am clear with my question. I request your valuable inputs on this.

Best Regards

Ravi

    Hello Ravi,

technically you would have to do a migration out of your SCM system to your TM system. There is no official upgrade path or so to my knowldege. I assume in the SAP Basis are tools to transfer table content from one to another system e.g. SLT. Maybe ask in the ABAP forum. Then you need to transfer all your filled EM table content to the new system.

For licensing you should ask your SAP account contact. I don't know how this is handled in this special case.

    Best regards,

    Steffen

    Ravi,

As Steffen mentioned there is no official upgrade path for your situation. You would need an alternative approach to move between the 2 environments. If possible you should look in to creating transports in the 7.0 environment. Then release them and have the basis folks copy the data and co-files to the 9.0 system and apply them. 9.0 is not different in the table structure way so you should be good with this approach for both config and dev items. Let me know if that works out for you.

    Thanks

    Kevin
