Hi Veerra,

1) SAP kernel 720 does not work on Windows 2003.

2) Kernel upgrade on IDES is same like on other SAP systems on Windows.

Make a copy of existing kernel directory

download the kernel files and extract it

     stop SAP system

overwrite existing kernel directory with new kernel files

    start sap system.

check new kernel in SM51 - > release notes

Hope this helps.

Hi Veerra,

The information that Windows 2003 is not supported for 7.20 kernel is from SAP PAM only.

Secondly for issues related to SAP kernel upgrade, relevant log files are located under

/usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS<NR>/work folder.

Hope this helps.

Hi Veerra,

You may need to look into

dev_ms : For message server logs

dev_disp : summary for disp+work logs

dev_w0 ..to dev_w10 : Detailed log for each work process

Hope this helps.
