Hi Basis Gurus,

We are getting an heap dump in our SAP Portal system(7.4). It is failing to allocate around 1GB. We have heap space configure of 4GB. We are wondering what could have generated such a big request. This dump generally happens 2 to 3 times in a month.

Please suggest a direction where to go about troubeshooting this issue.

Error:

Memory allocation error [OutOfMemoryError] occurred java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space (failed to allocate 1230312064 bytes) (max heap: 4096 MB

Hi Naval,

You can parse the OOM.hprof dump to see which application(s) are using so much memory. See Note: 1883568 how to use the Eclipse Memory analyzer tool.

Best regards,

Nick
