Hello guys!
Just wanted to ask a quick question. Is it normal, that during SP installation I'm getting maaaany short dumps? Usually it happens during IMPORT_PROPER phase.
Currently I'm updating one of my systems and in the meantime I checked ST22 - i got 1300 shortdumps (most of them are SYNTAX_ERROR.
Is it often case? I never suffered due to those errors - after update system is working fine.
Best regards
Anatoly
Hi!
This is from today update:
Category Internal Kernel Error
Runtime Errors DDIC_TYPE_INCONSISTENCY
Application Component BC-ABA-LA
Date and Time 17.05.2013 21:27:55
What happened?
Error in the SAP kernel.
The current ABAP "SAPLBTCH" program had to be terminated because the
ABAP processor detected an internal system error.
Error analysis
There is an internal system error.
eliminated with ABAP/4.
There is an inconsisteny for the DDIC structure "FAVSELS", the corresponding
Dictionary runtime object (NAMETAB) is incorrect.
The number of components of the structure (NAMETAB component "fldcnt")
is specified as 46. If all the substructures are resolved and the
actual total number of components is calculated recursively, a different
value is returned.
I imported lates Kernel 7.21 + R3trans + TP.
System is ERP EHP5.
Best regards
A.

Hi,
In order to fix the DDIC_TYPE_INCONSISTENCY dumps please check the following notes:
Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11
Note 1610716 - Correcting runtime objects with incorrect alignment
Please run report RUT_NOTE_1610716 with the check option and check if there is any inconsistency related with the structure FAVSELS. If so rerun the report with the option check and repair.
Hope this will help you.
Best regards.
Hi,
Short dump "DDIC_TYPE_INCONSISTENCY" usually occurs when a Dictionary
object, referenced by a program, is inconsistent. This can be caused by
a number of reasons, however, in the majority of cases, it is due to a
change being made to the dictionary object due to transports or upgrade
and there were errors during the activation.
Have you checked the status of these objects? Please try to reactivate
the structures using transaction SE11.
We recommend that you review the notes below for additional information:
595069 - Recursive check of inconsistent DDIC runtime objects
1167784 - Runtime error DDIC_TYPE_INCONSISTENCY

Anand.
Hi Anatoly,
Sometimes you get strange errors during update after update they should be resolved
I would suggest looking at the program names in your short dumps i.e. example of short dump text would be helpful.
Once you have program name from the short dump do a full extended program check on the progrem
SE38-> Enter program name
Then click on Program -> Check -> Extend Program check and execute
But for more accurate assistance please display short dump information here and also run transaction SICK.
Kind Regards.
Johan

Hi Anatoly,
Assuming that you have locked all the users on the system , please share the details from ST22 abap dump.

Hi Anatoly,
Did you inform the users and functional team that system will be down for SP upgrade? if the users log in to system SP upgrade and perform some tasks then you will be receiving short dumps like syntax errors . did you check if the dump is due to standard program or any customized programs. Please check the transaction and user causing these dumps. mostly these dumps are caused due to user action when SP upgrade is in progress.
Thanks,
Ranjith
