Hi Gurus,
I am a pp consultant. i am from sales background and learn pp without any basic domain knowledge. know i want get knowledge about production. can any body tell the useful material to get knowledge about production.
Thanks&Regards,
K. mahesh kumar.
Dear Mahesh,
Instead of Reading Books/ journals at first attempt, please have a visit to any manufacturing plant. Mingle with Production people and observe the production process.
If you do not have any an opportunity then, search the Videos for production simulations in internet.
If you are not satisfactory then, take a sample Product like CPU,Washing machine/car etc, then think of how they could brought under as one product (this is called assembly) but may result in different preparations during production of case/plastics etc.
As a PP consultant you need to know about the Processes that are available in general ,do not dwell deep in to Core as you cannot map the same in SAP always as it is Not Required.

Hi,
Mahesh Kumar
As per the project you are working in, ask any of your collegues / friends working in the same field (Domain) and try to gain some knowledge. It will be the better option than going through sites and studying,
because in sites none of the industries disclose their process in detail.

Hi Mahesh,
Domain knowledge will not come from SAP sites.
In Wikipedia go some manufacturing scenario.Study that document and try to understand.
Then Map into sap.
Example of manufacturing business scenario

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastics_extrusion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forging
