This issue is caused by Timezone difference. Sneak preview works only with GMT + 1 (berlin) with adjust for day light time checked.

I did face the same problem when i first installed.

In your case besting thing to do is

1. uninstall J2E application with uninstall tool located in C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\uninstsap.exe

2. Then drop the maxDB table using the folloing command

dbmcli -d J2E -u control,control db_offline

dbmcli -d J2E -u control,control db_drop

3. change system time to GMT + 1 with daylight adjustment checked and rerun the installation. That should work

Hi, I've tried following the suggestion of changing timezone to GMT +1 with daylight time checked, I'm still stuck at Phase 18. On the status it states com.sap.inst.jload.Jload dbImport and the log file stucked at

INFO 2005-10-10 17:40:09

I have left it for ~9hrs and the thing still wouldn't move. My laptop specs is running WinXP Pro sp1, 1.6Ghz, 1GB Ram with 7GB free disk space. Am I still lacking something? Cheers!

Hi,

I've installed the software last weekend after a lot of trouble. It stoped everytime in step 18. After a complet rollback of the installation I did the following:

check timezome if it is GMT 1+ and then under ControlPanel\Regional and Language Options\on the advanced tap\ I've enabled 'Default user account settings' and clicked the 'apply' button. after this installation works fine.

I hope this will help you.

Hello Srini,

Beside the other solutions, you can just download the files again. The time zone problem should be fixed in the new installer.

Klaus

Hi,

I am Trying to install NW 2004 SP15 for the 1000th time!!! have tried all the hints and tricks from these pages ... didn't really help!

I have a MS Windows Server 2003, 4CPU's, 4GB RAM, 80 GB scsi-raid5-free!!! It stops at phase 18 (CAF_RT_TYPTEX).

I have no clue what in God Sake I am doing wrong.

Schouldn't be such a big problem to install that package!

Best wishes,

Erdal

Erdal,

I also had to install it numerous times. The two things that I needed to do:

1.) The Time Zone change (as mentioned before

2.) The BIGGEST problem I had was that I installed Java SDK 1.4.<u><b>10</b></u> and not 1.4.<u><b>9</b></u>.

If you go to teh URL that is specified in the SAP docu it automatically lets you download version 10 from the website.

VERSION 10 produces a stop at Step 18.

Took me all my christmas vacation to figure that out.

Hope it helps.

Martin

Hi

I have the same problem,o your reply you mentioned SDK 1.4.9, do you mean 1.4.2_09?

Actually I uninstall 1.4.2_10 and install 1.4.2_09 and I changed the time zone, too. But I have the same problem,do you have any idea?

Thanks,

Maryam

Hello,

I came across this thread while searching for some answers. I tried installing the same package and encountered some problems. Then I upgraded the RAM from 1Gb to 1.5Gb, sucessfully uninstalled the whole thing (thanks to the tips on this forum) and tried reinstalling from scratch. But I am getting stuck at "Load Java Database Content". I don't see an error but it's sitting there for more than 2 hours (Installation Progress: The task is running). It says "INFO: table CAF_RT_TYPMMP created" on the status bar at the bottom of the installation window.

If I click on "Log View" I see the following (tail):

I noticed some of you are saying, "I'm doing this for the Nth time!!" That's the problem right there.

Once you have attempted an install of the Sneak Preview, there is no way to reverse what you've done. None of the uninstall procedures work.

The only solution is to rollback your system to a date BEFORE you ever attempted to install the Sneak Preview (Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore). I'm not sure if Windows 2003 Advanced Server has this feature or not. I didn't see it on Windows 2000. At least this will lead you in the right direction though. You have to somehow get your system to a point where it has never been exposed to the Sneak Preview install.

Perhaps in the next version of the Sneak Preview package the developers can pay particular attention to this because its a huge inconvenience to those who simply want to jump start their implementations of the great technologies SAP offers. --Shibli
