2 byte characters showing in target file

Hello:

I have created a simple mapping of a few fields from SAP VBAK table to a flat file.

The data in SAP VBAK table is shown below:

It looks that data in a target flat file shows as 2 byte characters:

It looks like a problem with Unicode/Code Page conversion.

Note that each character in input is represented by 2 characters in output; e.g.:

• VBELN field 0000004974 input value becomes '0 0 0 0 0 ' in output file
• ERNAM field BOLLINGER input value becomes 'B O L L I N ' in output file

I wonder what is causing it and how to resolve it. The <default> Code Page is selected in both source and target datastores.
