Did you mean:

BCM instead of SAPphone?

Hi Everyone,

In SAP Note 171201 I've recently read that SAPphone is discontinued and that
BCM maybe an option to go for.

I'm currently looking for a solution to connect to CIC in ERP (not CRM!) and

display customer data in CIC of ERP related to an incoming call on the phone,

so something SAPphone did in earlier days (using a TAPI interface).

I've read a lot of presentations and other document but could not find an "easy"

answer to this question. For me it looks like that BCM might be a very good

tool but an overkill to my needs.

Can anyone guide me to the right documentations or give me a hint to find a

good starting point to find a solution?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Kind Regards,

Carsten Loeffler

Hello.
Maybe this SAP BCM OII integration interface helps you out. With OII interface SAP BCM is integrated with CRM/ERP.

Hi Agur,

Yes --- that's the thing I've been looking for.

It is already more than a starting point and I think it will help me

more than anything else.

Thanks a lot for your assistance!

Kind Regards,

Hi Carsten,

according to the note only the SAPphone Server from SAP is discontinued, but not the SAPphone interface as such. The SAPphone Server is a tool provided by SAP converting the Microsoft TAPI into the SAPphone interface so that you can connect ot to ERP.

You need to check your phone system and see if there is a SAPphone interface available for it. This could either come directly from the vendor of the phone system or from a third party providing such interfaces.

SAP BCM is such a phone system as well and it does support the SAPphone interface. It can also be connect to other existing ühone systems, but using SAP BCM just to do an outbound call from ERP is some kind of overkill.

Hello Joachim,

yes - that's what I've learned the last week too.

I'm in contact with SIEMENS Enterprise Communications.

They told me exactly the same. They are still using the

SAPphone Interface to connect to their XPRESSIONS-Server.

Right now I'm looking forward to get some infos from CISCO

as well.

Kind Regards,
