SCN imporvement ideas


I started this discussion because I didn't really find anything when I was searching for a forum threat on SCN, for making suggestions about improving it. I encountered a few very old posts about this but all led into non-existing sites or topics from 2013. Maybe it has become a taboo or something on this site to talk about this and I missed this because I'm fairly new.

Anyway I wanted to start this discussion because I think that there are a lot of people who probably have very good ideas on what they are missing in functionalities on this site or general points of improvement that they might want to share.

One of mine that I wanted to post on a 'points of improvement forum' (which I couldn't find) was that since some time ago they "removed inactive accounts". I find it sometimes very hard to follow answers and replies on topics. because all are now called 'Former Member'. When reading through a long post with a lot of replies it is hard to know who are people trying to help and who is the person that originally posted the question. It would be nice to have like a tag of OP behind the 'Former Member' to know that it is the original poster who provides feedback on a reply and not just a random person answering with their own situation.

Let me know what you think about this suggestion and feel free to comment your own improvements that you are currently missing on this site. I think new ideas and improvements can lead to great discussions!

    Hello Sven,

    In this latest post by Craig Cmehil, you can see information about how and where the Community team is handling suggestions for improvements now.

    Specifically, with respect to the idea you list here (which I like, BTW!), you should probably add it in the SAP Community – Customer Influence site, so that it can be officially noted and tracked.

        Well of course most improvements that are posted will be 'ignored' when you develop a site :p. Most are just personal based little things that annoy 1 specific user and are completely irrelevant towards functionality. Frankly I was just looking for a topic on improving sites as I myself like to develop my own things in my free time and I find it very interesting on what bothers other people when using a site. So that was more the point of this post getting input from others on improvements :). But I'm very happy to now know that there is a site to post your improvements and I will make use of it even when I know that 90% will not be used as it is not possible to fix, implement 200+ improvements. And lastly I wouldn't say that they are 'officially ignored' I would feel ignored if I would post something and I would never get feedback and nothing would happen with it. When I posted my improvement within 15 min it was reviewed by a moderator and I got feedback from them that it was accepted on the list. It might be that it will not be used in their development, but I don't feel ignored because at least I get feedback on it (but that is just my opinion).

          Sven, you might not know this (your profile shows 2017 join date) but we've already been on this merry-go-round with the Idea Place before, hence my skepticism. Take a look at my blog dated 2013, for example. Ideas were posted, voted, reviewed. Then the site was taken down and replaced by the Influence site. Aaaaand here we go again.

          I hope this time around SAP does a better job with it. Based on your comment, it seems at least they wrote a script to send a response (textbook customer service move - make the customer feel warm and fuzzy :) ) and update some flags in the database. Cool, cool.

            Hy Jelena, that is correct I'm very new to all of this and I have no idea of how it was before. it is very well possible that what I try to do is never going to accomplish anything. On the contrary I prefer to have a very positive attitude. If they do something with the idea I post it will be amazing if they don't I will not be discouraged. The only reason I do stuff like this is because I enjoy it and I just want to do it :).

    Even better: I just spoke to Craig, and he said if it's added in the Customer Influence site before the end of this month, it’ll be evaluated with the other requests for Q2.

      Thank you very much for the reply. I did not know that there was an improvement request site for SAP (I must have overlooked it somewhere when I was searching for it), I will certainly submit my improvement before the end of the week so it can still be reviewed!

    Audrey Stevenson - would be a great place to scale the knowledge about the new process, etc.

      Yes, I saw this page. When I was reading this page, to me it felt more like a page for when you really know that there is an issue with something from a SAP product that is malfunctioning. You could contact an expert here to help you fix the problem in contrary to just a general contact for posting improvement and spamming their mail with endless ideas.
