[Status Update] Bookmarks are back! A long time coming, but they are here.

In his blog post from earlier today, Craig Cmehil shares that Bookmark functionality has been released in SAP Community. But the news is even better than that! If you had bookmarks back in SCN days, those historical bookmarks are sitting in your (new) Bookmarks section in your profile right now!

Here's a screen shot of my Bookmarks section:

What's not to love about that?!

Quite interesting to look through a lot of my old bookmarks, remembered a few items that brought a smile to my face :-)

Thanks for posting here Audrey - I also saw Craig's blog, and actually I think I first noticed the +/- bookmark flag icon in the header and made an assumption that Gabi had added another widget to the profile, so I played around there too.

In actuality, many of my bookmarks were to things in the archive, and some of the DOC-xxxx URL's appear to have case sensitivity or simply they no longer exist, so one at a time I deleted all of my 2+ year old links :)

I did find some nuances with the label behaviors and the extra step to 'save' that does not warn you if you leave the screen. Perhaps label changes should auto-save and not require the save button next to the URL/text. Similar experience with the radio slider for showing them on the dashboard. The dashboard is a very small widget, so likely showing only the 'Title' would be cleaner and free up precious screen space.

"and some of the DOC-xxxx URL's appear to have case sensitivity" - yes, it's a bug! Tested for manually added bookmark - URL is converted to lowercase on save.

Yeah, we implemented the whole bookmarks service in the profile.

I'm making some of the proposed changes based on the feedback and the usage of the features that we saw so far, like keeping only the clickable title in the widget and doing some modifications to how the saving of the labels and showing on dashboard is.

Also forwarded the topic of case sensitive document URLs to the respective team. No other content type seems to be affected.

        To Gabriella Gogl-Gyorgy

There is no issue with URL - it can be case sensitive! It's possible to save bookmark to the external site (not sap.com) where URL can be any case :)

The real issue is case conversion during bookmark save!

    Nice.

I don't see bookmarks from my linked profiles which is a bit disappointing but still...nice.

Jerry Janda posted a YT video tutorial on the bookmarks. Nice one!

It's not working for me :(. I bookmarked from my mobile and when I go to the dashboard, it says that I haven't selected any bookmarks.. Bug?

    **UPDATE**

I sorted out the issue myself, I was checking the dashboard bookmarks. Apparently you can allow some of the bookmarks to be visible on the dashboard.

    Hey Audrey

Any chance we can get the Bookmarks of our linked Profile? That's where my historical ones are.

Nice to have bookmarks available (again) in SAP Community!

As I couldn't find anything yet about a suggestion I have for them, I created improvement request "Add option to edit multiple bookmarks in one go" just now.

Hope others find it a useful idea!

    Cheers
