SAPgui turns into SnowGUI

I was wanting to embed this video, just as a little bit of seasonal fun, but it turns out you can't embed video in discussions. You can only do that in blogs. Frustrating.

Anyway, here's our SAPgui this week: https://youtu.be/A5yn9Cf9d5w :-)

Thank you Steve! It's nice to see that SAPGui is getting into the holiday spirit!

Cheers,
Sue

That is so cool! Is that a Personas trick?

I have two versions. The one in that video is not a Personas trick. We've replaced the waterdrop image with an HTML page anyway, and so that's just some JavaScript called from the HTML. You can get the JS from here: http://www.schillmania.com/projects/snowstorm/. This version works in the HTMLgui, and both the Windows and Java GUIs. The screen recording is the JavaGUI on my Mac. When you navigate away from the SAP Menu screen, the snow stops falling.

The Personas version is cooler (obviously:-) in several ways. First, it snows over the whole screen and not just over the image. Second, the snow keeps falling even when you switch transactions - the Javascript stays running! And so it snows over your purchase orders in ME21N, your ABAP in SE80, and everything else. But it does only work in the HTMLgui.

I bow to you, o Master of All Things GUI!

Next year, a Christmas tree and fairy lights. Although I'm not sure how far I can take this before the users object :-)

We have had one user comment that they like the snow. Only one. But nobody has complained, so I call that overwhelmingly positive feedback!

Steve.

I can't take all the credit. The original idea came from Jakob Marius Kjær in this blog from a couple of years ago: https://blogs.sap.com/2015/12/14/get-chrismas-into-sap-with-screen-personas/

(Sorry not to give credit earlier Jakob - I completely forgot where I got the idea from :-)

Nice! I noted that the blog was marked "Retagging required," and that Jakob's account is no longer active, so I went ahead and retagged it "SAP Screen Personas."

I am still active. Just another account. Not with itelligence anymore. Good to see that my holiday flavor came to good use
