Number of views on questions

Another thing to look at for activity are the number of views a question has once its been posted. The questions in the PLM QM area have very few views. I think most of the views we do have in QM are strictly caused by about 2-5 people.

Some only have single digit views. That was very unusal in the old SCN system.

There is a small difference how views are registered in the new platform compared to the old one.

In SCN the view count was incremented with each page refresh - no matter if the same user has displayed the page before. In the new platform the view count is incremented when a single authenticated user views a page (only once). Of course, the concept is not uniform across all site components - blogs view count is incremented with each page refresh☺.

What I am trying to say is, that less views on questions does not necessarily mean less users than before, just the criteria is different.

Still, considering the huge drop in the number of questions, which I see in SD, I think, that the same is valid also for QM.

So if an edit, answer or comment is made on an open question, and people come back to look at that new content later, that view is not counted because that person was there before, maybe weeks ago?

Precisely.

I made a simple test with the current discussion. Here is the list of articles in coffee corner (I always use open in new tab and I did not refresh the page):

I displayed the article, then refreshed - nothing changed - still 6 views.

Thanks! That's nice to know.

Kind of sad really.. this morning in the coffee corner the highest number of views that I found on any one posting is 98. Yet they had to migrate a million+ profiles??? Of course I know that 98 doesn't reflect all the active users across various areas. But it's a shame we don't have more people checking in on some of these postings after being open for business over a week.

Maybe they still have not found the CC. Or they did, but all their posts went to moderation. *ahem*
