Has the community activity reduced drastically after new Q&A replaced the old Forums?

Hi All,

While I was more of a lurker in the old forums, and contributed only a few times, I could see a lot of activity going on in all the forums (and spaces later?). I used to frequent the BW forums and could see people competing to give the right answers and get the points and badges. Most questions would be answered in a few hours.

But, recently I feel like the activity have reduced by a lot and a lot of questions are remaining unanswered. And most of the answers are from SAP employees or mentors.

Is this really the case? If yes, is SAP doing something to bring the community back?

Cheers

This post was opened more than a year ago but still is pretty active: https://answers.sap.com/articles/43185/status-update-community-bye-bye.html

Yes - I think so. There are a lot less people.

I don't work for SAP... I've no idea what they are doing.

But my question back to you is what are you doing about it? Can you influence people back? Are there any questions you can answer? Any fun blogs you can write? Anything would be great! It's hard to see the community this slow.

I've just come back after being gone for awhile.

Some great news today! Check this blog out. They are having some of our wonderful members help to redesign. At least that's how I read it.

      Hey Michelle,
well, I read it a little differently: just more words.... to my understanding SAC has been in place for quite some time, but they were not listened to that much... (that's my impression, happy to learn if it's different).

I still decided to keep my comment over there strictly positive, so nice you now gave me the opportunity to voice my actual first thought here! :-)

      Best

I am hoping with that blog that things are looking up a bit. I am forever the optimist. Yes, I did read that it has been there for a long time.

It's a hard thing - to actually work hard at something and not have anyone listen. So maybe I really should thank everyone. I'm hoping persistance will work.

Thanks, Michelle. As Joachim says, the SAC has been around for a while, and it hasn't always been as effective as it should be, but there is an active effort to improve upon this situation. As Brian writes in his post, there's a bit of a mea culpa there, and we're all sticking with the program because we believe that it can become better, that we can recapture some of what was lost.

I especially love your comment about "What are you doing about it?" Yes! The platform is not helping with encouraging content discovery nor with answering questions and blogging, that's true, but while that gets worked out at a technical/design level, it remains up to all the rest of us to do what we can to introduce what vibrancy we can. After all, it's the SAP Community, and Community = us, not the platform. We, the Community, must do what we can to breathe life back into what we are doing here.

      Cheers,
      Matt
