not sure what i can do with it or where i will hit the wall, but this HANA server looks pretty neat to me:
Hmm... Greg... not too sure what you mean here. Either the "long" uptime of the server in general (which would mean you missed at least three major HANA releases, shame on you :-) ) or that the indexserver process restarted just at the day the screenshot was taken...?
Hi Lars, from the type of questions you are asking you got my interest piqued. i was simply happy that it was all green from studio to the cloud server on the HANA version that i'm supposed to be familiar with.
i still have your admin book shrink-wrapped, but if there were 3 releases since 8/1/2017 i may have to defer to notes to check what's 'new' this month.
what's most important to me is that if this connection remains stable i may start having second thoughts about AWS on the East Coast US and simply keep going to Continental Europe for my SAP cloud needs should your company deem it important to keep it available to the global ecosystem. btw, i can live with indexserver getting restarted every 12 hours or so.
Cheers, greg
So, thanks to the glorious notification system I see this reply only now... *sigh*
You're right: the HANA Admin book covers long past HANA versions, but interestingly still gets sold (in very small quantities though...). Some of the concepts we described still apply and there are always people that prefer an actual book over a pdf file. I'm quite happy about that :)
For the cloud topics, I don't have too much experience there. What I can say is that the trial accounts are not impressive when used from Australia (datacenter for trial is in Germany...). I guess that the SAP Cloud experience is a lot better when you're close to the DC serving your applications.
Hi Lars, agreed here, physical proximity does reduce latency which is the prime metric as far as any cloud is concerned.
thx, greg

This is what everyone wants!
