[Status update] SCN is dead. Long live SCN!

Or something like this.

Hello? Anybody here? It's like walking through a misty forrest trying to find the others that went into it with you. Guuuys?

My activity stream seems full, yet confusing. I tried reading up in the new "Support / about SAP.com" tag, but the results where confusing as well, since they depend on from where I start to get there. Maybe it's all indexing. Maybe it's more.

Right now I'll try to find the IDM tag, follow it and then... don't know. Watch the SCN team fixing more stuff?

But first, coffee! :)

This is a wild guess, but you can try this for IDM:

http://go.sap.com/community/tag.html?id=01200615320800000721

No guarantee that this is the only IDM tag :)

I am thinking : shall I come back a week later to see if things have started working or just keep refreshing the questions on Using SAP.com (https://answers.sap.com/questions/metadata/24527/using-sapcom.html). It looks like it is the new coffee corner now :)

Yep, found it. ^^ My one blog there was correctly tagged and woosh, there I was. Then I only had to switch to "all content", wait a moment and now I could hit the follow button. *g*

Oh well.. baby steps. SCN is young again now, needs to find itself. What it can and cannot do. Kind of like The Doctor after a regeneration. :D

And I also thought about keeping a distance for a week or so. But on the other hand, what better time than now to get accustomed to the new platform? So much to look for, so many people running around confused, so you won't miss many "real" questions. We can just click around, try to find our own way and this way learn the lay of the land.

The Doctor! *-* (my preferred one he's him )

I think a week is not enough: a month will be better.

I'm a damn pessimist but all the issues raised during beta from many people seems to be here, untouched.

And i find.... annoying the SAP team asking to mark answers accepted when they says "it's a problem we know".

Oh yes, my favorites are 9 und 10. For me they are a unit, tied together by Rose and Captain Jack. ^^

Now that the launch is done, they have time to concentrate on all the bugs and feedback. ;)

I'm a total 10/Tennant girl, myself. 11 had his charms and exceeded my expectations after being devastated with The End of Time. Not crazy about Capaldi, but we'll see what happens :)

Also, re: the issues from Beta - they're not forgotten. You can find them here: http://go.sap.com/community/about/beta-feedback.html

Frankly, right before go-live, we were in "bug fixes only" mode, so I can understand your frustration at not seeing a ton of major changes from the last Beta version. That said, this in no way marks the end - in fact, it opens us up to building up the new functionality once the initial growing pains of the migration itself are done (as Steffi mentioned, we're also in bug-fix mode right now). We will still continue to develop on a 2-week cycle, as Oliver mentioned in his blog, and will be working to implement many of the items requested in the beta feedback. I've cleaned up the list and made it more usable, so that we can continue to ensure the ideas are not lost. We're now using IdeaPlace also to capture new ideas. This will allows us to be much more responsive and transparent on the status of implementation of your ideas.

I am sorry that you are frustrated with my team's request for you to mark known issues as answered. There is a reason for that though - it allows other users to see that asking the question again will not get them a different answer. Does that make sense?

Best,

Jamie

Not necessarily - if my question is "why this happens" and a member of the SAP team answers: "this is a bug, we are working on a fix now" - then it makes some sense to mark the answer as correct, because he answered my question. If I am reporting a bug, then I will mark the question as answered after the bug is fixed and I have tested, that it is working. In some cases the fix does not work well or even makes things worse. I won't accept this "we know already" as a correct answer in this case.

Hi Simone,

I would certainly leave it open and unanswered until a fix was in place, tested and proven to resolve the problem. That was the criteria for closing questions in the past. Why should we accept half measures now?

Regards, Mike

Looks like the bunny was torched by the migration and could not find the picture on my PC again, so I decided on the monkey look with banana for this platform phase... ;-)

Ah, now I can see the "monkey". ;) You looked like any random grey person until now, that's why I asked.

So, this is how we're doing status updates at the moment? OK, I'm in. They have to live somewhere...!

Isn't that what we came up with as a substitute for the time being? I just added the "pre-tag", so you know what you get.

You're right. I forgot!

Of course: Right after I submit my first bug report with screenshot and everything, it works again. Gnar. Question deleted. One "bug" down. ^^

I'm somewhere here in the woods (well, my "avatar" is :) ) The smilies didn't make it it seems. They will be missed. But look at all the open white space! I can fit like whole two paragraphs on my laptop screen, yippie.

Now on to make some coffee, although it looks like I might need something stronger...

Yep, also have a hard time finding stuff.

- how do I get to the coffee corner (no link, please, how do I find it on my own?)

- can I follow anything but posts, like, a set of tags? How?

<sigh>

Click on "Community" and then on "Coffee Corner". ;) It's right under the Q&As.

You can follow tags. Just click on one (e.g. from the Activity Stream) and there should be a "Follow" button. You can follow people, too. Clicking on an avatar should bring you to their profile and there you have the follow/unfollow, too.

There does not to be a way to follow the CC though. :/

FYI, we have an ugly list of tag hierarchy available right now on the About Tags page, which you can find from the home page. I say ugly because I acknowledge that excel isn't the best format for this, but we wanted to get something up for everyone to reference. We're working on a prettier & more functional solution :)

Hmm, people find the new idea place and create an idea to complain about the "sudden" change to this platform, but not a way to create a new question here. I'm confused.

Yeah, it's definitely an adventure. Thanks for helping me update my avatar!! I do like the chat. I could definitely see group IDM chats in the future.

Coffee corner chat could be fun as well :)

Well, I see you found the CC as well! *g* And you're welcome!

Welcome in the quieter corner of the new SCN. ;)

It is quieter because most users haven't found it yet, I expect more discussions to appear in the next few days.

Well, it's an adventure indeed. I wish I'd had more time to participate in the beta, because now I feel almost completely unprepared. But, I'm trying to apply my "beginner's mind" to it all!

I haven't figured out the following of tags yet, and it seems my "activity stream" is filled with literally everything, including mostly useless stuff like everyone's likes that used to be gathered in one spot instead of filling the whole feed. So, a bit overwhelming.

I published a blog on the new platform yesterday, and I spent a ton of time working with the preview function, trying to get the spacing between paragraphs right -- it did not work "visually" or intuitively at all -- and today the spacing in the blog is all over the map. It doesn't look like it did in the preview right before I published, or indeed how it looked in Firefox on my Mac at home vs on Firefox on my PC in the office.

I'm not sure how things like mentor blogs, or top-liked content, etc, will be highlighted like it used to be on the old landing/home page.

So you have an "activity stream" that is overflowing, and I have nothing. I browsed the community for GRC content and found nothing, and I reviewed the tags list and found obsolete brand names listed and current brand names AWOL. I, too, didn't have as much time for the Beta as I'd hoped, but I thought I did enough to muddle through. Now I'm not so sure. I really miss my Activity landing page.

< sigh >

Really, your activity stream is empty? oO That can't be unless you did unfollow us. Did you, Gretchen? ;(

@Matt: I'm not completely sure, but I think they plan on putting things like that back on the "startpage" of the new community home, meaning this one: http://go.sap.com/community.html

One question on new status updates in CC: will we create new discussions here or we will just continue to comment on the old ones (one discussion per person and we edit the discussion title)?

I'd create a new one every day or when the main topic changes. ^^ Otherwise the threads will get too long and the title might not match anymore and therefor everything becomes even more confusing.

Title might not match anymore? Isn't that how status updates used to work anyway? :-)

Yeeeah, but most of the time we (read: me!) changed them at least once a day. ^^ And with the threading here, comments on comments, not in one line as in the status updates, it will pretty fast become confusing, if everyone just keeps one thread.

Don't you think? I mean, it's not my thing alone here. You guys have a vote, too. (so to speak :D).

So long as we agree with you, right? :-)

For me, creating a new discussion for each status update makes most sense. That's what I've been doing today, and I haven't been using the "status update" pre-tag. Do we think that's necessary? There's not much else here anyway!

Not now, but when people finally find to the CC, that might change. But I think that's what everybody should decide for themselves. We don't need to make it complicated.

And no, not so long as you agree with me. That's not me. :( I just have ideas, not orders. :(

I just scanned all the comments, trying to find the new one.(Realizing, this post is from 2016).

When I found none, I went back to the CC list and looked at it again, actually reading the words:

"yesterday in Coffee Corner

Steffi Warnecke edited"

So Steffi I'm curious what was this edit that brought us back those memories? :-)

best

Joachim

Sorry, I found a typo and had to correct it. :D

I went back to this thread, because I had checked out the new profile improvements (having CC discussions in there) and was surprised to find this thread, because I didn't remember creating it. So I went and read the replies, found the typo and couldn't resist the urge.

Came accross that yesterday and had the same question, so thanks for the clarification:)

And now again, coffee! :)
