I've just had 3 pages devoted to 2 questions - why can't updates for a question, blog etc etc not be rolled up into a single entry in my activity stream ? All I want to know (and I'm sure most other people want to know) is that there has been an update.
<shakes head>. Who ever designed this p*s needs shooting.
This was requested in Idea Place in October.
The idea has status Accepted and will be subject to some prioritization, I suppose:
"Sajid Amir May 5 2017
This functionality will be very important in decreasing the noise from users' Followed Activities. We have this feature in our radar and will consider for future road-maps this year."
***ducks for cover***
I'm just keeping the noise levels up.....
Hmmmmm.
AH SAID, AH SAID, "AH'M JUST KEEPING THE NOISE LEVELS UP" SAP DO YA HERE ME?????
Can it be that you are doing it wrong?
This is how it is done (NSFW): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGmfIQKhixc
Still on the radar Veselina! You should know about this from your exposure to the new wires and hifis! Details are being refined and will be shared when available.
I don't know "why" but in addition to The Idea Graveyard this was even brought up by me several times in the designated Activity Stream Jam and raised again by Steffi few days ago. Other than personally going to bang on the Bill McDermott's office door I don't know what else are we supposed to do to stop this idiocy.
Shooting would not be adequate IMHO. They should be sentenced to clicking Show More button 100 times, then taking 10 minute break just to find that the activity stream reloaded and they are back at the top again. Although I'm afraid this qualifies as "cruel and unusual punishment".
This is a recent screenshot of my whole browser screen on a laptop:
I'm scared to even think what the activity stream looks like for my followers. :(

I could tell you, and yes, that makes following "active" persons like you rather useless, at least until you stop to like postings...:)
At least you see some color. ^^
Hello Jelena,
The new designs we are working on for the activity stream will hopefully address your concerns. You should be getting exposure to these in our focus group calls. Detailed wires and prototypes, when available, will be able to show how they are designed to tackle these user issues in mind.
Best regards,
Sajid Amir
WHEN?! When will this bright future with wonderful new design will come? This has been raised last year. It took several months to get rid at least of the moderator activity.
If it's so terribly difficult and time consuming to just remove "X performed action Close on the object type question nonsense" and comment updates from the stream then TBH I'm getting concerned about the whole SCN architecture.
the wire frames are almost completed:
That is a great pic :) So if someone tells you to 'shut the front door' does that also mean the back door at the same time?
When I develop web stuff (or indeed in SP), you have a development system which you develop on. Don't you gu7s have the same or do you develop directly 'live'... :-)
Don't forget the other aspect of leaving the feed open too long and then getting the dreaded 'click here to refresh' which reloads the whole page, causing you to lose any point of reference in the activity feed where you may have paginated several times, hoping to cover a certain time period beyond the last few hours or so...
This will also be taken care of through the new designs Jeremy. We are working on having a small indicator that shows how many new items are in someone's activity stream. This indicator should update in real time when the browser is inactive so a user can come back to their feed and if there has been any new items available, they would be able to click on this indicator and refresh their feed with the new items.
You know this is a patch and not a solution, right? :)
Haha I see Simone but by "solution mode", I meant that I should not be offering solutions right away (be that in the form of a patch).
Wow!
After more than one year from the open beta where the issue has been raised, we are still in patching mode.
Sorry, i know it's not up to you but... really, patches over patches and never a solution?
And the Activity stream will only show the new activity, when I click on the hint?
Well, it will push older activities down and show the new activities on top. User will know how many new activities just entered their stream as this will be indicated in that number. All activities for each content item will be grouped and updated so automatically so we can maximize the space in the stream.
More details will be available when wires and prototypes are ready Jeremy. So instead of getting into solution mode, I should have probably said that this user issue is going to be taken into account Jeremy. I say this because after reading my explanation, I realized it can be hard to visualize something like that and get the full picture.
It's like a song "where have all the good UI designers gone?"
