Questions not marked accepted

I know many of you answered a lot more questions than me, but I have been answering a few questions over the last weeks. Unfortunately, some answers do not seem to get flagged respectively (no green tick mark), even if they were accepted by the questioner like in this example, which I believe makes it harder for others to find them:

Is this a common issue and if so, what do you do in such cases?

Many thanks in advance

It happens from time to time that the user changed his mind and unaccepted the answer again. If you open the question then you see that it has no right answer currently.

Maybe the user is hoping for more answers, maybe he first want to try the solution, maybe he just double clicked which means that the first click accepts and second removes the acceptance.

You do not get notified for removals, it can only be seen in the activities if you followed the tag or the user.

It happens even more often for votes as the page is very sluggish to display the vote and the user click again an removes the vote before it is even shown.

      Thank you Jürgen,

      That explains it.

      Best regards

I have also seen where the community interaction aspects of the people profile (answers, questions, blogs, etc.) tend to lag a little behind and the data is not 100% real time. Possibly some sort of caching or data replication, but hopefully that's just an annoyance, and not the issue you are describing with the notifications.

and the data is not 100% real time

Don't worry, HANA is coming soon to your favourite FAQ site, too:)

As a side note, I believe the new comment that has been added to the notifications and emails when you receive an answer is actually misleading to less experienced community members.

I know it was probably well intended and the SCN team might be rolling eyes [again] that there is just no pleasing us. But after this comment was added I started seeing people accepting answers as "best" when clearly the question was not answered yet. Not sure everyone actually understands that this marks the question as "answered" and it's unlikely any more answers would be added. E.g. in one of the questions I answered OP marked my answer as "best" (it really wasn't, I just took my best shot at it because there were no other replies) and then they posted additional information (as an "answer", of course) clearly expecting more answers.

As Juergen explained, it's possible OP just unmarked it and this could be one of the reasons.

This might have happened with my answers too but I just don't check on them usually, unless OP clearly made an odd choice.

        *rolls eyes*

It's a fair point. Let me share back with the team as we try to make Q&A more intuitive...

    Hello Frank,

I just checked our logs and can confirm that your answer was accepted first. The OP of the question then retracted this "Accept" and thus this answer is now not shown to have the "Best Answer" green check mark beside it on your profile.

As Jurgen shared above, I can also confirm that our users are notified if one of their published answers get accepted as the Best Answer, but are NOT notified when this action is taken back. Such activity can be found in your Followed Activities if subscribed to the content, person, or tag.

If you wish, please feel free to prompt the Question OP with a comment about this issue.

    Best regards,

    Sajid Amir
