Feedback counts - countless times

did you see the launchpad survey pop-up with its intelligent logic:

You make your choice, another tab in the browser opens with the same question and a horizontal bar where you usually set the radio button, but this window immediately changes to the Thank You page. You can close this browser tab and you are back at your starting point with this pop-up still open and you can repeat your feedback.

Quite efficient to use a non-working feature to ask if you are satisfied.

Went to Launchpad, I see what you mean. The survey kind of works - the choice just opens another tab (with the actual survey page) where the respective item is already filled in and it does a quick submit, so you get "thank you". I guess this was meant to be somewhat seamless but, in fact, the whole process unrolls in front of your eyes and looks rather clumsy.

But the placement of the survey in the "what's new" pop-up is really unfortunate here since, as you noted, it does not get closed automatically. Moreover, I expect that unless someone clicks on "do not show again", they will be presented with the survey every time they open Launchpad for a month or so. This survey placement seems like a bad idea. Not sure if the results are counted by IP or S-ID or something. If not then they won't be accurate for sure.

Hi Jürgen, Yelena, Yogesh,

Thanks for your comments, and yes, you are right the implementation was somewhat unfortunate as it was a bit of a workaround due to the desire to obtain a baseline of perceived effort as quickly as possible to begin measuring future improvements and updates against. Future iterations will be much smoother and better integrated.

@Yogesh, Dilbert has too much insight for our corporate worlds! I love that comic, and while I am no Scott Adams, here is a comic I drew last year that captures another common approach in business "research":

So, expect to see all theories confirmed regardless of the results! ;)

Many thanks again for your time and interest and please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Cheers,

Sean

Pretty awesome comic, thanks for sharing! At least you'll have another career if that SAP gig doesn't work out. :)

My suggestion (and common sense) would be to remove the survey from "what's new" pop-up and put it in a separate pop-up next time. The survey pop-up should not appear anymore after the user either completes the survey or declines to do so.

I have to show this comic to my wife (biomedical statistician)! Great comic and I agree with JP, you have a backup career.
