I just wish someone would take pity on us CC fans and change the overview page to not showing the whole content of the discussion start. This is so confusing.
Finally someone said it. :)
It's so annoying to scroll through the same post over and over, especially if it has pictures (which are still getting blown up, is there any way to change this?). Also shorter posts (like this one) are getting lost. And "50 shades of gray" used by UI are not helping either.
The workaround is to start with a short intro and then add long post as the first comment. But in this case you're not getting any notifications on the further comments (unless they're directly related to your comment). Mess atop mess. :(
So where's the "Show less" button? :)
It's interesting that somehow it's not possible to:
- fit the whole post text in the email notifications;
- show the actual content in the online notifications;
- show more than 2 lines of the blog title on the home page.
Yet CC posts are listed in their full glory. Well, I guess at least we now know what's the most important part of SCN. :)
I haven't even gotten notifications about your and Volker's reply here. oO
Let me check to see if anything is being done to address it. (I spend a lot of time in Coffee Corner myself -- I guess that's obvious -- and I agree that the presentation is annoying.)
Hello You all,
Thanks a lot for this feedback. I will look into what can be done although if it will involve heavy coding I believe it's not something we could get to soon as we have higher priority tasks on the table.
Thanks,
Moshe
As a temporary solution I added the following element hiding rule in uBlock:
answers.sap.com##.truncate.question-excerpt
I also removed the search box from questions/discussions pages (I don't use it at all):
answers.sap.com##.tags-list.search-container.container
Now the Coffee Corner looks like this:
The solution is far from ideal, but it took me less time to apply it, than to prepare my response :)
I want that, too! Look how neat it is!
But no uBlock for me here. :/
If you use Firefox, Opera or a Firefox fork and if you have sufficient rights to create and edit userContent.css, you can add the following:
@-moz-document domain(answers.sap.com) { .node-list-item .question-excerpt {display: none !important;} }
I think, a similar file exists for Google Chrome, but I don't have it installed.
Why did I not think of that? Genius! I remember doing this a little while ago to make Facebook more palatable (well...). But it didn't occur to me to use the trick here too. Done now (with AdBlock+) and it looks much better.
I wonder if I can fix the activity stream the same way...?
Thanks Veselina :-)
Genius! Looks perfect now and I even found an unread discussion hiding among the bloated posts.
This reminds me of that old joke I shared somewhere here before about the stolen Soviet jet drafts, the train, and small note "file to the specification". Just the thing one would expect from SAP. :)
Now just a couple of Java scripts to fix the activity stream, eh? I'm learning so much in this New Community! :)
Finally added this to my AdBlock. Now the CC looks so pretty I could cry. *sniff*
Another thing I'd like to see in the CC overview page would be to see a preview of the most recent post in a thread, rather than always the start of the thread. That would give me a better idea whether it's something I haven't actually read before, or that I want to go and dig further into.
You know the drill, Matt - enter an idea, drum up support, wait for months, get it "delivered" totally not as you thought. Cue "Circle of Life" music. :)
And don't forget to mention 'manageable by user profile setting' :)
I don't even need a preview. Just the title, real timestamp of last comment, name of last commenter and done. So pretty much what it looks like in Veselina's screenshot.
You get this (almost) in https://activities.sap.com/#/activities
you only need to follow the coffee corner, then you set the filter in activities to coffee corner and the second filter to Questions & Answers
Jürgen, how do I follow the CC? I know I can follow a tag or a particular CC discussion, but the whole CC?
