Is Close question with reason really helping us?

Over the period of time, we saw the questions answered from past are either accepted late or left unaccepted post the problem resolved or no feedback on unresolved state. Over and above there is a good feature introduced in the community to close the question with a reason. Is it really helping until the person asking the question bother to go and update there? How it is helping or is it better if this feature made mandatory while accepting answer? Please comment to use this good functionality of SAP community. Request mentors to look at it.

    Common sense approach:

When question author accepts some answer and not close the question then another user is able to provide better answer and question author will change his decision to accept previous one.

If the question is closed then no answers can be provided.

Keeping thread open to the extent of getting correct answer is fine. post that, is not recommended right.

Sorry, but I have seen a lot of cases when some answer was set as accepted and then after new answer - the new answer was set as accepted. Nothing wrong with it for a few days. Automatic closing after "accept" will make extra answers prohibited...

The purpose of this introduction is really a good feature, but predominantly, that is not happening. Most of the discussions, though, OP would have got solution, neither they click on Right Answer was Accepted nor close the discussion with a proper update. The head-ache starts there for Moderators. Since the discussion is open, another new member hijack such an old discussion (could be 10 - 12 years old), add the same query there without mentioning what efforts the new member put, in finding out solution. I DM to the new member who hijacks the old discussion, advising not to hijack. I am doing this exercise atleast 3 - 5 times on a daily basis.
