What "swag" would you like to see in our SAP Community Fan Shop?

We recently launched our SAP Community Fan Shop and we see already interest in the shop, means some stuff has already been ordered. I think it’s a good indication that you like it and we are really happy about it!

We want to constantly enhance the SAP Community Fan Shop and fill it with new material, too. For example, we just added two new beautiful shirts for the ladies in there:

We noticed already interest in stuff like the shirts above, so we offered an extra break out session about swag in the SAP Community Coffee Corner Meet-up end of June. BTW: you can translate swag with either Souvenirs, wearables, and gifts or Stuff we all get (read more here). And during the session Katarina Nonhebel said something, which kept into my mind: people like those things most, which are still usable after a long time like t-shirts, socks, but also sticker and PopSockets. Is this true?

Now we need your help because we don't wanna just guess – we would like to ask you, the community: what would you like to see in our SAP Community Fan Shop?

I am looking forward to your comments, ideas, feedback!

I'd like to see a better SAP Community mug. The one in the shop says "Community" but the mug itself just has an SAP logo, black on black background, barely noticeable.

I also like all types of "desk tchotchkes": pen holders, stationery, mouse pads, etc. :)

    • Aug 14, 2020 at 06:00 PM

And not just any mug, but a 20 ounce (very large!) one!

      • Aug 15, 2020 at 10:23 PM

I strongly second a much larger mug!

        • Aug 19, 2020 at 02:57 PM

First of all: thank you for commenting :-)
I hear you, Ladies, and will work on finding a larger mug ;-)

In regards to black on black - this is because the mug is chalky one and you can modify it. Another color was not possible on chalk surface, unfortunately!

          • Oct 26, 2020 at 01:57 PM

I don't see much use for a chalk mug, and it's probably not nice sniffing chalk. So, I hope SAP releases a regular mug with a "SAP Community" design/logo.

        • Aug 25, 2020 at 03:50 AM

          "SAP Big Gulp" :)

      • Aug 17, 2020 at 07:08 AM

LOL - an inevitable suggestion when asking in the Coffee Corner:)

      • Aug 25, 2020 at 04:24 PM

Can it be like a Yeti hot/cold 22 oz travel mug?

Not a cheapo stainless one like the last one I had from SAP where the thin stainless steel sleeve came off in the dishwasher after a few washings.

And yes.. it HAS to be dishwasher safe...

    Hi,

even if I run the risk of being misunderstood, I'd like to throw in the ring a software punch face/ball. Why? Because sometimes software misbehaves. And you as a user/programmer have no safe vent for the accumulating anger. And how we learned in the movie 'Anger Management', this is not healthy. So why not being honest and give the people something they can punish if they have a not so perfect day? ;-).

Perhaps, when the first 'How dare you propose such an insolent idea' has passed, it proofs to be something practical? Even pragmatical, cool, funny, tounge in cheek?

    • Aug 19, 2020 at 03:07 PM

I like that Manfred Klein :-)
Do you mean a larger punch ball or a smaller version?

Thought of something soccer ball sized with a mean face. Something that invites being punched.

I don't think I would have the heart to punch one of your little cuties with their smiling faces. No matter how furious.

Thinking practical something for the desk would be fine. But perhaps your hardware could object if it receives too many shock waves(through the desk plate). Considering this the larger punch ball with it's own foot sounds good. The pole and feather mechanism absorbes the punching force. But beware of the kick-back ;-).

Uh, I guess this would really be fun but I doubt that this can be realized and that people would order it.

Anything at free of cost is most welcome for the old SCN members like me and Jelena Perfiljeva :-)

  • Aug 18, 2020 at 03:32 PM

    Its good idea!!

  • Sep 03, 2020 at 05:37 AM

I really like the idea of free mug for old SCN member :). But, what could be nice for me is notebook. I am unable to work with software to take notes during meeting. So a notebook is something really usefull for me.

Tshirt and polo are totally forbiden in my customer office, maybe a SCN tie could be allowed :(

    • Sep 03, 2020 at 06:10 AM

Actually, a notebook was also on our minds but we couldn't identify anything nice, useful and cheap... but I will consider this idea as I am also more a "paper-person" ;-)

    • Oct 07, 2020 at 12:40 PM

Also more of a handwriter myself, but for me it's iPad + Pencil + OneNote

Personally I also use a matte screen protector to give it more of that paper feel. The big advantage over paper is I can search my notes electronically.

Now a SAP branded phone/tablet cover is something I'd be tempted to shell out for, but I realise it may have some logistical hurdles of all the different shapes and variations. Perhaps the most common could be offered?

I recently opened a box from a relocation nearly 20 years ago. Inside I found the stationery contents from my desk in Walldorf. I started using the old SAP pens and SAP A4 5mm grid paper pads at my current work - and they really caught a lot of eyes. Good conversation starters with a lot of people about SAP.

So perhaps some SAP themed pens and paper pads?

  • Sep 09, 2020 at 12:03 AM

Perhaps a nice brushed steel SAP embossed bottle opener?

  • Sep 09, 2020 at 12:05 AM

Perhaps SAP themed sticking plasters - pieces of flexible material with an adhesive backing for covering cuts or small wounds - not sure what we call these around the world. In Australia we use a common brand name Bandaid

    Hello,

I think about a folding ruler for the Hobby room....

    Regards

    Marco

    • Sep 15, 2020 at 08:55 AM

Interesting idea... I am not sure if I would personally vote for it. Maybe I should ask my husband... ;-)

    • Sep 15, 2020 at 04:38 PM

Not sure about the folding ruler, but the small retractable tape measures are nice, (non-metal tape). We have a freebie one we got from some promotion DuPont (an early employer of both my wife and I), It only goes out ten feet I think but it is pretty small, only like the size of a large coin and about 1/4" (8-10 mm) thick. We have kept it for years in our proverbial "junk" drawer in the kitchen and its used constantly.

But it's a good quality one. Whatever material it is has held up really well in the 20+ years we've had it. Maybe it's made of Tyvek? (a Dupont material). So many of the small novelty ones are made with a cheap paper tape that usually breaks fairly quickly. The cover had our Dupont Division's logo on it. But it almost all worn off now.

      • Sep 19, 2020 at 07:20 AM

I actually like this one more, too, because it's small, you can store it everywhere and can use it for more stuff as it's flexible :-)
Thanks for your suggestion Craig S

Now I know SAP customers need a tape measure. Here's the proof, our customer uses a tape measure to scale how many of their stores have already been converted to the new SAP system. (1mm equals one branch, customer has more than 4k branches).

For years I have been walking through the offices of customers and I see the SAP Sailing Calendar again and again. But, since I saw this model of the SAP extreme sailing catamaran, I thought it would look much cooler in the office. Unfortunately this model is much too big for me. Maybe one or the other of you liked it here and it will find a more suitable size in the store...

Maybe a toy edition or stickers of the Random Day Surpise badges (birds). I prefer smaller toy version as it's easier to put at my desk and play with it if i get bored :D

odd to see ladies' polo shirt but no men's polo - the bowling shirt wouldn't pass muster at my office, although the price is a bit too rich for my blood anyway

    • Sep 22, 2020 at 06:31 AM

That was the ladies' feedback, too, when we only had the bowling shirt ;-)

As said, the shop is growing and I am collecting ideas here - so, you wanna see a men's polo in the shop?

    • Oct 26, 2020 at 02:00 PM

I would like a men's polo shirt too.

  • Oct 05, 2020 at 10:24 PM

What about a headphone? Maybe not that fancy, with noise cancelling. Something to use in the office or even while walking, jogging.

    I loved the extra-large mug idea. I would love a 500ml mug...

    • Oct 19, 2020 at 03:35 PM

Thanks, Christiano, I like the idea of headphones: noted! :-)

      Cheers, Svea

While the office stuff like pens, notebooks, mugs, polo shirts, etc. are great I am thinking SAP should expand into the "Life" of the Work/Life side of things.

Exercise and pet accessories, low-price home tech, backpacks, and so on. I know that there is some of that available now but I think the options should be expanded upon more. And try to move away from black as the primary color...

    • Oct 19, 2020 at 03:39 PM

Thanks for your suggestions, Peter. You know, it's SAP Community branding material we are talking about here, not SAP in general. But in regards to colors, we have to stick to the official branding guidelines... but I'll jot down your ideas and maybe I just start a Q&A voting for them ;-)

      Cheers, Svea

I'd like to see the hoodie also in a darker color....and available in the smaller sizes again!

Regarding the store in general, a community week with discounts, or a black friday promo would also be nice!

    • Oct 19, 2020 at 03:42 PM

Is it already sold out? Wow, this is amazing! :-)
Okay, then we'll work on providing more, maybe in a different color, too. And I like the idea of week with discounts or a kind of "black Friday"... let me check!

      Cheers, Svea

      • Oct 19, 2020 at 03:47 PM

Thanks for your opinion, Svea. What also came to my mind regarding discount week/black friday...is the gamification part of the community. That would be another motivation to get a discount. There would be several options. A dedicated challenge with the aim to get a certain discount...or a more general reward for a certain level of engagement on the community. What do you think?

        • Oct 20, 2020 at 03:22 PM

          Thanks for your ideas, Mark.

Let me check all possibilities, brainstorm with the team etc., but your idea sounds definitely interesting and I like it!

  • Oct 21, 2020 at 12:14 PM

    hey Svea

Cool Stickers for my laptop wit a fun claim statement

    - 14oz mug (like the Starbucks Been There mugs)
    - Cork/Wood coaster for mugs
    - SAP Community shirt with large logo
    - SAP Community polo shirt
