World Emoji Day!

I didn't even know about this, until this fun little surprise appeared in my Inbox / Notifications:

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to reveal which activities lead to earning the badge (hint: it isn't hard), but suffice to say I was not expecting this!

Yes, feel free to share which activities earn the badge! We decided it was time to have some fun, so let your friends (peeps, colleagues, strangers, etc.) know that if they engage in the SAP Community today, they'll earn a badge!

How was I not notified about this? D:

I think you will be now that you've performed a badge-winning activity :)

Indeed, right you are! Here I'll put the table back where it belongs

I was surprised by one of those awards as well. Fun!!

Yesterday I had seen this badge in someone's profile (probably July 17 started early for that user) and it made me curious. So I searched about this badge in SAP community but couldn't find anything until I did something in SAP community today :) (July 17 just started).

And for anyone who missed out on World Emoji Day...there will be other opportunities to get the Random Day Surprise badge. Your next chance will happen on day. Hence the name. And all the more reason to do one of the following every day.

    • Publish a blog post, comment, question, or answer
    • Like any blog post or comment
    • Vote any question or answer up or down
    • Follow any person, tag, blog post, question, answer, or Coffee Corner discussion
    • Update your profile picture, "About me" text, spoken languages, or Elsewhere links
    • Jul 23, 2019 at 02:10 PM

That's a lot of stuff to do every day! New profile picture, bio, learn a new language, unfollow/refollow folks....

      • Jul 23, 2019 at 02:38 PM

ONE of those things. Not all of those things.

        I'm not a monster.

So if you like any blog post or comment, and it happens to be Random Day Surprise day, you get the badge.

The only catch is that we don't announce the days in advance...because then they wouldn't be random. So your best bet is to stop in daily. And liking a blog or comment every day? Think of all the people you'll cheer up. A bigger, better reward than the badge!

Not in a liking mood? How about a daily Coffee Corner comment? Then you'll be cheering yourself up. The badge is just the icing on the cake, the cherry on the sundae, the chicken image in your reputation...

    I liked the surprise badge.

I noticed it - only when Audrey wrote the blog about it. Interesting and actually so cool looking! :)

Yep. Designing all those badges must be fun... and challenging, too, to make something visually distinctive and meaningful in such a small package.

Michelle, did you not receive a notification? Or do you have them turned off? You should have received at least an online notification (in your online inbox), if not an email notification if you have those turned on, when you were awarded the badge on July 17.

    Oh, nice!

Is there a list of those badges (only the past ones, of course)? ...there was one with "pirate', too? *remembering*
I think , even if I missed them, it would be still nice to look at them and appreciate ya'lls ideas!

So far, we've had two Random Day Surprise missions. One was for World Emoji Day (July 17), which this Coffee Corner post is about, and one was for International Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19), for which people earned this badge:

I'll have to see where it might make sense to keep track of these/collect them for reference.
