Or perhaps not.
I used to right click on the links in the notifications to open a new tab which would take me to the comment, or the private message. Now you have to left click on it, which opens a new page, from which you can navigate. For goodness sake, why? Why two clicks instead of one? Have the UX people lost their minds?
Also, when I click on the little person icon to log on, the registration screen popups for a few seconds before I'm logged in. Really smooth...!
I avoided to open the thread to sound so polemic: thanks Matthew to do it!
Wanting to remark the lack of global view, move your mouse in the home page over the menu and do it here: two different kind of reactions.
Coherent design..
The main page text is somewhat ironic in this context.

Yeah...
"If it ain’t broke, change it"
Well, at least the links are fixed now.
There are no immediate plans to change how the notification link works -- as the whole setup is meant to accommodate other forthcoming notification types. But we fully recognize (and agree) that adding a click isn't a great experience for members who want to go straight to Community.
With this in mind, we have updated the most common Community notifications so that the very beginning of the excerpt will include direct links to the content (e.g., blog post, question, comment). You should start seeing these in your Inbox now.

Yes I saw (and acknowledged it). Much better.
Just one feature to add:
When all notifications are marked as read (using button "Mark All as read") or last unread was marked as read - yellow notification sign has to disappear without page refresh!
Are you sure?
Good point. We're reached out to the team responsible for that part of SAP.com, and they're looking into it.

Yeah, It is a lot better now compared to earlier.
Vadim Kalinin I was in the dead loop for sometime while opening individual notifications and clicking on "mark as unread" notification thinking that it as "mark as read" and coming back to find it again in unread state :D :D (dumb of me to not read it completely :D )
I agree that it should be removed. after I mark all my notifications as read, I will refresh my browser :D I don't like to see that icon :D
