[Status Update] Idea Raised for Alert Moderator against People Profile

Hi All

I've just raised idea: https://ideas.sap.com/D40236

If you agree, please vote so the development team can get an indication of community support. I raised it as a suggestion a while ago but not in Ideas Place. I do recall it being suggested in the old community

The idea is to provide an alert moderator button against a person to be used for complaints as well as 'compliments'. Categories could be added to allow members to nominate someone for member of the month, moderator, advisory council, etc. At the same time, unprofessional behaviour can also be called out

Global Moderators would receive the alert to determine how best to manager it.

Regards

Colleen

Voted, and also commented about this new kind of "positive" alerts!

I'm all for the positive alerts, that sounds great. But am not sure "unprofessional behavior" for the whole profile is a good idea. Bad behavior does not necessarily mean a bad person. Everyone can have a bad day and that's why we already have moderator button on the posts.

There have been cases before when after seeing multiple questionable posts by the same person I'd check their profile and see that they have only similar posts (e.g. plagiarized blogs or "do my job" questions). In such case when alerting the moderator on specific content I'd also add a note to check the person's profile. But this happened maybe 5 times since 2012.

So I'd gladly vote for an idea if it included positive alerts and only negative one for when something is off in the profile. E.g. some people are posting advertising links in their "short bio", which is not cool. But if you have some beef with the person's behavior then use a button on the specific content. Just IMHO, of course.

Hi Jelena

I was trying to be very generic for the bad behaviour topic but I would see more around SPAM (though the new filters seem to be helping) and items that are more about the person's account and common participation as opposed to a single post. Your suggestion of issues with Bio is another example. It's why it got one dot point whilst the positive items were given own listings. Hey even nominate SAP Mentor could be an option here (though I don't think there'd be enough space for details).

I would not see this Alert hiding or inactivating an account if there are a multiple alerts. Therefore, if there were anyone targetting the person then it would behind the scenes and the rest of the community would be unaware of the alert being raised. However, the Global Moderators would be in a position to reach out to the person who raised the complaint as well.

Hope this helps with my thought process.

Cheers

Colleen

In case an example use case is needed:

Some user is creating empty comments left and right:

Maybe the platform is eating away the content, or there’s a problem with the handling. (Or its just am spammer).

In any case, assistance by a moderator would be helpful here!

(I only now realizes that I cannot raise an alert on a comment?! What's the best practice then? Alerting on the blog, with reference to the comment?)

best

Joachim

Interesting, I thought comments must not be shorter than 10 chars..:)

That's (only) on answers.sap.com; on blogs.sap.com they can be as short as they want..
